Logical ReasoningConvergent thinking occurs when the solution to a problem can be deduced by applying established rules and logical reasoning. This type of reasoning involves solving a problem within the context of known information and narrowing down the solution based on logical inference.

Creative ThinkingDivergent thinking increases a student’s desire to learn and supports his/her creative problem-solving & intelligence. When creative thinking is encouraged in the classroom, we promote student engagement, self-motivation, and a love for learning. There are 4 components of Divergent Thinking: Fluency, Flexibility, Originality & Elaboration.

Analyzing / Making JudgmentsEvaluative Thinking is motivated by an attitude of inquisitiveness and a belief in the value of evidence. It requires students to analyze problem situations deeply and make judgments based upon those findings by posing thoughtful questions in order to gain a deeper understanding in order to make an informed decision.

Character / Mindset / GoalsOur Affective Standards focus on positive character traits, keeping a growth mindset and setting personal goals for our future endeavors and accomplishments.

Connections to the WorldRelationships occur based upon connections being made. Target students are asked to use their collaboration and communication skills to relate various topics, ideas and thought processes together by recognizing the relationships among them.
