Thanks to those parents who were able to attend our Virtual Open House on 9/7. Since the students are taking the IOWA test this week and next, they will be coming to Target after they have completed their test. We will squeeze in Hands-on Equations as well as some problem solving and creative thinking lessons! All Target units include each of the ALP standards such as divergent, convergent and evaluative thinking skills. Last evening we hosted our Target Open House. To see the details of what we are learning each week and the previous week use this web link => Mr. McAllister's Target Lesson Plans Third Graders are being introduced to the history of chess and learning/reviewing how pieces move. In Hands-on Equations we learned what and how Coefficients work and continue to learn how to solve for X by using trial and error. Vocab: Variable, Constant & Coefficient. In our fifth-grade Target class, we are gaining "Perspective". This week we learned about attentional blindness and how this effects an individuals perception of eye-witnessed events. We will continue to focus on three different areas: Art, Statistics and History. The goal is to help the children gain an understanding of the different viewpoints. All Target units include each of the ALP standards such as divergent, convergent and evaluative thinking skills. Everyone has enjoyed being back face to face in our Target classes!

We are starting to make some moves into our unit focusing on the history and strategies used in the game of chess. In our fifth-grade Target class, we have started our unit titled "Perspective". This unit will focus on three different areas: Art, Statistics and History. The goal is to help the children gain an understanding of the different viewpoints. All Target units include each of the ALP standards such as divergent, convergent and evaluative thinking skills. Welcome back to school and to Target class!
